Mentor is a large town home to nearly 50,000 residents and 1,700 businesses. Known for its diverse mix of housing, here you can find anything from upscale, contemporary to charming, century homes in the Old Village District. Mentor-on-the-Lake is a smaller community northwest of Mentor that is situated along the shores of Lake Erie. With a population of about 7,000, it is a tight-knit community with access to many amenities. With over 40 restaurants, Mentor has a seemingly unlimited amount of dining options. Here you can find anything from pizza and burgers to Indian and Mexican. Mentor is also home to Great Lakes Mall- a large shopping mall with over 90 businesses. There are a number of hiking opportunities that exist throughout the City of Mentor, particularly around the Mentor Marsh. Here you can explore the Mentor Lagoons Nature Preserve & Marina and the Mentor Marsh State Nature Preserve. Mentor is also home to four aquatics facilities: Civic Center Waterpark, Morton Pool & Spraypark, Walsh Spraypark, and Eleanor B Garfield Pool. In Mentor-on-the-Lake you can also find the beautiful Overlook Beach Park. In addition to all the traditional playground equipment and park features you would expect to find, Overlook Beach Park also has a 375-foot long sand beach. Mentor School District houses 10 schools: one high school, two middle schools, and seven elementary schools. With an enrollment of approximately 7,500 students, the Mentor School District includes Mentor, Mentor-on-the-Lake, Concord Township, and Kirtland Hills.
